The Centrifuge

You size up the treadmill a bit. You know, after spending a few days cramped in a space-thimble, you feel like stretching your legs a bit. You decide to take it easy first, starting at a low speed. After a nice warmup, it only makes sense to crank up the speed a little. You begin to speed-walk at a faster pace. It really feels great to get a little exercise right now. After maintaining your speed for a while longer, you begin to play around a bit. First, you try walking backwards, then doing an amateurish moonwalk. Finally, you take several steps before pushing yourself a few centimeters above the track, letting it run underneath until you slam back down onto it. Man, you’re really asking for it, aren’t you? After goofing off some more, you finally decide to crank it up to running speed. You adjust the speed dial once more, bringing you to a brisk pace, then jogging speed, then running... Then sprinting, speeding, and faster and faster than that. Something’s wrong with the track! You desperately clutch onto the handrails, struggling to keep up. If the motor keeps accelerating, you could be in serious danger!

What do you do now?
