The Centrifuge
You decide that the only safe option is to just let go. You might get a bit scuffed up, but it certainly beats getting mangled in a treadmill. With a mental count to three, your hands release from the guide rails. Like a slingshot, you’re flung backwards at remarkable speed. The belt must have been going around 100 kilometers per hour, and it’s a doozy. With a whoosh of air, you fly towards the ceiling. For a brief moment, you’ve overcome the artificial gravity. That is, until you pass the center of the ring. Up here, the rotation is much slower, making a weaker gravity simulation. But before you can experience a stellar montage like before, you begin to feel gravity pull you to the other side of the ring. You begin to hurtle towards the ground at the speed you started at. This can’t be good, you pessimistically think to yourself. You reach the other side in a matter of seconds, before feeling yourself crumple against the ground. Your body folds like a accordion deprived of air. You sway back and forth a little before compacting back into a disc shape. Just hope you don’t make for a good resistance band and you’ll be alright.
Slingshot!
