Lunar Surface

You gaze upon the moon’s horizon. The distant mountains, the canyons and craters, and the view of earth, nearly obscured by the back of your thumb; it’s a sight to behold, for sure. You descend from the ladder slowly, and feel your boots touch down on the dusty lunar surface for the first time. You take your first few steps, trying not to let the lower gravity throw you off. Then, you stand tall, feet together and chest puffed out, as you prepare to recite a speech that would surely inspire millions worldwide. “That’s one small step for—“ CRUUUUSSSSHHHH! You feel yourself being rolled over by the massive wheel of a giant rover. You whimper as your body crumples under its weight. Even on the moon it’s enough to press you into the regolithe as a sheet of your former self. It slowly rolls over more and more of your body. You stretch around the entire tread, then overlap the back of your own head, before finally being swept away. As the rover travels farther and farther, you become more deeply embedded into its treads. The land-distance record for the farthest a space-fairing rover’s ever traveled was 28 miles. How’d you like to break some records?
