The Centrifuge
You decide to look out the window. You take a step towards the endless cosmos sprawling before you, the stars twinkling amidst a black curtain. Then, you notice the moon enter your view... then exit... then enter again. The rotation of the centrifuge module is beginning to make you feel... dizzy. You grab the side of your head, deciding to take a seat on the ground. You take another gander outside. You notice that the spinning seems to be... speeding up? You begin to feel heavier, like gravity is increasing. You attempt to run back towards the ladder, legs feeling like jelly. But each step becomes weaker and weaker, and slower... and slower... You stumble back onto the ground. The pressure has become unbearable. You begin to sink down. You try propping yourself up with a sphinx’s pose. But despite your best efforts, your arms can no longer support you. You crumple over your increasingly intense weight. You body even begins to lose its depth; soon, you only measure an inch thick at the most. Suddenly, the ring begins to screech to a hault. The station must have activated its emergency cutoff protocol for the gravity module. And not a moment too soon; you’ve become almost transparent from how intensely you’ve been crushed. You try to get up, but it’s no good. You cannot move a single fiber in your body. Looks like the increased gravity has left you plastered to the floor. Lets hope the main crew decides to perform some more careful observation down here, unless you want to get stepped all over. Surely you haven’t let the pressure get to you, have you?
