Capsule

Enough is enough. You were never meant to come here, so you might as well just play things safe and go home instead. You enter the capsule, ready for a return trip to earth. You’ve managed to stow enough rations for the trip; hopefully you won’t burn through them all like last time. You close the airlock, ready to let the computer handle the rest of the flight. After a few days of drifting through space, you see the earth fill the window’s view once more. You buckle up for reentry into the earth’s atmosphere. Coming in at interplanetary speeds is enough to make things really heat up. As the capsule hits the atmosphere, you feel the g-force try to rip you from your seat. Eventually though, the heat dies down, and you begin to slow. You get a good look through the window again, and see a vast, beautiful ocean in plain view. You feel the parachutes deploy, ready to set you down into a nice, easy landing. After a picture-perfect splashdown, you hear helicopters buzzing above. They must be here for the recovery. You hear a few “clangs” outside the capsule, and see yourself rising back into the air. You’re basically homeward-bound at this point. Well, you would be. But scientists are baffled at the effects space has had on your body, especially having been so close to the moon. For the next few months, you’ll be chopped up, melted down, sifted through, reformed, squished, stretched, compressed, and endure just about any physical abuse a toon can. At least you’ll be leaving with a memorable vacation.

Another Happy Landing!
